Our Lady of Grace Parish is indeed graced by a beautiful and extraordinary sculpture of the Blessed Mother and the Child Jesus. She is holding him to share him with the world and particularly with our community especially with all who pass by our Church. Traditional images of our Blessed Mother and the Child Jesus depict her holding the child close to herself. This rendering shows Mary in action and extending the Child (or her Mercy) to all who come to Our Lady of Grace Church. The compassion and tenderness of our Blessed Mother should guide the spirit of our Lady of Grace Parish. Symbolizing this to all who pass by is a bronze statue sculpted by Sister Angelica Ballan, PD, a member of the Sisters Disciples of the Divine Master, an international congregation based in Rome whose principal apostolate is the development of religious, liturgical art. Sister Angelica Ballan of the Disciples of the Divine Master in Rome created this marvelous sculpture which graces the entrance to our Lady of Mercy Medical Center, (known now as Montefiore North Division) on 233rd street since 1984, Now the Statue finds a sweet home in front of the entrance of our Church and will grace all of us for years to come.
