CARDINAL'S CAMPAIGN
Archdiocese of New York

Last week we perused the beginning of the history of the Archdiocese of new York, Today we consider some of the history of our parish within the archdiocese of New York.  Fr. Victor Bassi was the first pastor here.  he opened a store front church on White Plains rd & 226th street in 1924, and then built a lower church on the present site.  Now the church hall.  On may 26th, 1968 at the 11 am mass the dedication of our present church building took place.  The mortgage at the beginning for the new church was 1 million.  In 1988 that was cut in half to $500,000.  today it is $35,000
All parishes in the Archdiocese are participating in the celebration and campaign to commemorate the 200th anniversary as a diocese.
