A NEW MEMORIAL MARIAN GARDEN
Having examined a number of options, and upon the advice of the Finance council, we have decided to offer memorials to cover the cost of decoration and landscaping the area in front and round the church, rectory and school. The focus of the garden will depend on the beautiful Statue of Our Blessed Mother given to us by Our Lady of Mercy Hospital. A plaque will be erected in the garden with the names of all those memorialized, both Living and Deceased. We are offering memorial slots at $1000 each. Please speak to Fr. Germain if you are interested. This amount can be paid in four installments as payment plan @ $250.00 each payment.

EASTER FLOWERS AND MUSIC
As Easter approches quickly our thoughts come to our sanctuary decoration and music for Easter, I call upon each parishioner to be extrageneous as you have been in the past. The funds collected help to cover the expenses for both Easter Flowers and extra musicians for our Masses on Easter. again, thank you for your geneosity. If you do not have Easter Flower Envelopes, please do take one in the back of the Church. Traditionally offerings are made in memory of a deceased loved one.

 " SMALL CHRISTIAN COMMUNITY MEETING"
The main ministry of these parishioners is to visit the sick in the parish for which the parish is most grateful. "Communion Calls and visits to our sick and home bound parishioners" Recently, and too often we receive telephone calls at the Rectory requesting Last Rites for an individual who lives near to the Church. Unfortunately, we then learn that the person has been ailing for a month or more, and the priests were not notified. We ask that you continue to be the "eyes, ears and heart" of the parish regarding our neighbors who are in need of Spiritual and pastoral guidance. Thank you to all who informed the Rectory of these corporal works of Mercy, either by telephone, snail mail, fax or in person.
NOTICE FOR UNSOLICITED FLYERS IN CHURCH HALL
Fliers are being left at the rear of the church or placed on the bulleting board in the vestibule of the church without prior permission of the pastor or staff. Sometimes there are "chain Letters" urging certain prayers to be offered for certain results of shared with others etc. a time when we are celebrating a parish celebration. Thank you for your consideration.

Archdiocese of New York
Last week we perused the beginning of the history of the Archdiocese of new York, Today we consider some of the history of our parish within the archdiocese of New York. Fr. Victor Bassi was the first pastor here. he opened a store front church on White Plains rd & 226th street in 1924, and then built a lower church on the present site. Now the church hall. On may 26th, 1968 at the 11 am mass the dedication of our present church building took place. The mortgage at the beginning for the new church was 1 million. In 1988 that was cut in half to $500,000. today it is $35,000
All parishes in the Archdiocese are participating in the celebration and campaign to commemorate the 200th anniversary as a diocese.
HELP BRING THE SACRAMENTAL MASS GIFTS!
Would you want to bring the Bread and Wine up the aisle at Sunday masses? A special list at the rear of the Church is available to sign. Again this is a result of the dialogue between council committee members and representatives of the parish recently.
Rcia signifies the rite of Christian initiation for adults" the process by which adults who may never have received baptism or confirmation or communion are properly trained and prepared through instruction and worship not only to receive the sacraments but also to serve in some form of ministry to benefit our people in worship, education or community outreach. If you have not received these sacraments please inform the staff of the parish. The sacrament of confirmation will be offered this year on Pentecost Sunday, May 23 2007. Preparation is necessary
Volunteers to help in the food pantry are needed. The food is packaged at 11am on Mondays and distributed at 1 to 2:45pm on Mondays in the church auditorium. We thank those who have been giving their time to do so these many years now. Please remember to bring non perishable food with you on the second Sunday of each month!
